At our March 2011 All Staff Meeting, we focused on strategies for a healthy workplace environment. This included some group work and a powerpoint presentation about workplace harrassment. Please check out the powerpoint presentation by HARASSMENT_AT_WORK.
In October 2010, Imagine was pleased to welcome Sergeant Paul Ramos from the Cabrillo Division of the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office. Sergeant Ramos provided a training about what to do and not do when someone is missing. Sergeant Ramos heads up the County’s Search & Rescue Team. Here are some of his suggestions on what we should do:
- Call 911 immediately when someone who is at risk when alone is missing or wandered away. There is NO waiting time and the sooner you call the better.
- When calling, please tell the dispatch operator that the person missing could be at risk on their own and that this could be a dangerous situation.
- Try to communicate when the person was last seen, what they were wearing, and any other important physical traits.
- Stay in the last place the person was seen in case they return or you are called upon for more information.
Please discuss with your teams more ways that you can work together in the event that the person you serve cannot be found.
In March 2009, we discussed the importance of listening and learned strategies to improve our listening skills. To learn more about listening, check out the Active_Listening presentation. If you would like to practice your active listening, please check out the three activities we participated in.
At our November 2009 all staff meeting, we had Melissa Devera, a nutritionist, provide us with resources to help us support the individuals we serve in reading and understanding food labels, selecting healthy food choices, and menu and meal planning. You can view the resources and sample menus and recipes by clicking Nutrition_Training_Documents.
In March 2009, we discussed the importance of supporting the people we serve in participating in meaningful activities. Ashley Pyles and Ed Gunzelmann presented Consumer_Activity_Planning describing Imagine’s values and policies in regards to activity planning. Additionally, they handed out an Activity Planning Form and a Cheat Sheet full of great ideas for activity planning. Please take a look at the attached handouts and feel free to share your thoughts and ideas with your team!
